Biography

My practice includes conducting individual, couple, and family therapy for clients experiencing a wide range of psychological and relationship difficulties. I have been in clinical practice for the last 40 years.  I specialize in couple therapy where I help couples improve their intimacy and conflict management capabilities. In my work with couples, I also have expertise in the areas of infidelity, substance abuse, and the lack of intimacy. Moreover, as a Washington State and American Association for Marriage & Family Therapy (AAMFT) Approved Supervisor, I provide supervision to other clinicians as well as supervision of their supervision.

In addition to my private practice, I am active in my profession and serve on the Mental Health Counselor, Marriage & Family Therapy, and Social Workers Advisory Committee for the Washington Department of Health. I am also active as a researcher and educator in the social sciences and in the field of mental health.  As an educator, I have served over the last 40 years on the faculties of such institutions as the University of Oregon, Antioch University, and Western Washington University. On a more personal note, I am married, have a grown son, and enjoy Northwest outdoor activities such as backpacking and kayaking.
